Internationalization strategy

The main goals of the internationalization strategy of Lithuanian Police School (hereinafter referred to as LPS) are focused on the school as an institution that develops intercultural and professional cooperation in learning and teaching. In developing international activities, LPS takes into account the general vision of the school - to become a modern vocational training institution, ensuring the training and development of a professional police officer.

One of strategic provisions of LPS is to train highly qualified specialists and increase the efficiency and competence of the employees of the police system. The LPS needs pedagogical and other staff who not only provide future officials and participants with the latest professional knowledge in refresher courses but also enable the acquisition and development of new competences. It is no less important to constantly monitor the latest changes and scientific achievements in the professional field, to analyze the possibilities of their application in the study process and work activities as well as to initiate the implementation of curricula and process organization innovations. International cooperation provides an opportunity to work and network with the best experts in the field, to participate in their training and to use high-quality infrastructure to get acquainted with the latest training methodologies along with ideas in the field of police training.

One of the main goals for 2021-2027 period remains the same that is to develop cooperation with foreign training institutions of police officers. The fact of having reliable long-term partners can encourage LPS cadets and staff to gain international experience by participating in mobility projects as well as in other international activities and internships.

Internationalization is usually understood as the transformation of the whole organization and must be beneficial at both personal and institutional levels. Therefore, within organizational culture that supports international activities LPS includes all departments and employees of the organization.

At a broader level, cooperation with the foreign police partners can have a positive impact on the development of an effective training policy for police officers and on further long-term joint activities for police forces in different countries. The active sharing and exchanging of relevant information between the parties is also encouraged that is particularly important in policing. Participation in international projects brings together organizations from different countries to create overall results relevant to all participating countries which are then adapted at national level.

Strategic goals of internationalization of LPS in 2021-2027:

1. To develop cooperation based on a long-term partnership.

2. To promote and expand the international activity of LPS cadets and employees.
