FIRST-TAC Project: Advancing International Collaboration in Police Training

From March 11 to 15, 2024, experts in the tactics and techniques of the use of force and tactical medicine gathered in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the fourth in-person meeting of the Erasmus+ project, "Development of Joint Curriculum for First Responders on the Use of Force and First Aid Tactical Procedures (FIRST-TAC)." This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Lithuanian Police School, the Police School in Słupsk (Poland), the Agency for Education and Professional Training in Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and the Police Academy – The First Croatian Police Officer (Croatia), which leads the project.

The focus of the Mostar meeting was the completion of detailed training materials essential for the upcoming training sessions aimed at enhancing the skills of first responders in both the tactical application of force and first aid procedures. Experts finalized lesson plans, including comprehensive descriptions of exercises and specific instructions for the instructors who will deliver this training. Additionally, the meeting addressed the online preparatory phase, ensuring participants have access to theoretical knowledge refreshers through materials created during earlier meetings in Croatia, Lithuania, and Poland.

Marko Vujević, Director of the Agency for Education and Professional Training, welcomed the participants and emphasized the significance of this collaboration. He highlighted how this modern training program will strengthen police capacities across Europe and expressed satisfaction with the partnership, particularly noting Bosnia and Herzegovina's involvement despite not yet being an EU member state.

This comprehensive approach to police training ensures that the knowledge and skills acquired during the sessions will be passed on to other groups of police officers, creating a sustainable cycle of professional development. The pilot sessions scheduled in May will be a key milestone in realizing the project's goals.
